School Ski Trip Travel Options
School Ski Trips by Luxury Coach
We are able to hire coaches of varying sizes including 36, 49, 51, 53, 55, 57, 59, 65, 71, 73 and 82 seater coaches with ski boxes or trailers if necessary.
All the coaches that we hire are luxury vehicles less than 5 years old and are fitted with seat belts. They also have a toilet on board and TV/DVD as well as hot drinks facilities.
We have been working with a small number of reliable companies for many years. Their coaches are fully equipped for the wintry conditions and they have experienced drivers who are able to deal with these conditions.

School Ski Trip Journey Timings by Coach
We aim for school ski groups to arrive in resort by mid-afternoon, so that skis and boots can be fitted on the arrival afternoon. This allows plenty of time for the students to recover from the journey and ensures that they are all ready for skiing first thing the following morning.
Journeys from Calais to our school ski resorts in Switzerland vary from 14 hours to 16 hours. So working backwards we hope to arrange Channel crossings for between 17:00 and 23:00 hours on the previous evening. Departures from school therefore typically are late afternoon from the London area, mid-afternoon from The Midlands and Bristol with morning departures from The North , Scotland, Wales and The South West.
School Ski Group Leaders tell us that the benefit of travelling by coach is that the luggage is loaded once at School and does not have to be touched until you reach resort with the students accommodated all together safely on board, except for motorway stops.

Channel Crossings

Sea France and P+O Ferries on the Dover-Calais route are the normal methods of crossing the Channel, although we are also able to book Eurotunnel trains, if you prefer.

The Return Journey
School Ski Groups by coach are accommodated in resort for 6 nights. They ski for 6 days and depart resort after an evening meal on the final day's skiing. They travel through the night and Channel crossings from Calais depart the following morning with arrivals back at School ranging from early afternoon to late evening depending in which part of the U.K. your school is situated.
School Ski Trips by Air
About one third of our School Skiing groups travel by air. We only use scheduled operators including Swiss Airlines, B.A., Alitalia from London and Birmingham and Easyjet from regional airports. The use of scheduled airlines usually results in reasonable daytime departures. We do not use night flights.

School Ski Trip Journey Timings by Air
Typically departures from U.K. airports range from 07:00 to mid-day. Flight times are approximately two hours. Your School will then be collected by a coach company that is located in our resort. Their experience of mountain conditions is important to Ski Gower and our customers. Airport transfer times are usually 3 1/2 hours to 4 hours and we are aiming for our groups to arrive by late afternoon so that the students skis and boots can be fitted on the arrival day.

The Return Journey
School Ski Groups by air are accommodated for 7 nights in resort. They also ski for 6 days and depart resort after breakfast on the final morning aiming for a mid-afternoon return flight back to the U.K. Groups are usually expected back at school in the last afternoon or evening.
