Engelberg is the leading mountain resort in Central Switzerland. It is perfect for school ski trips, a small village situated at the end of a valley with a safe pedestrianised precinct. There is plenty to do in the evenings for school skiing groups. It is dominated by a Benedictine Monastery, which was highly-regarded in the Middle Ages for its educational accomplishments. There are still about 30 monks living and working there today.
